Booth's MBA ----> PhD?

Is Booth's MBA program a feeder program into their PhD Finance program, or what? Why do the Chicago Finance PhDs including the heavyweights, all did an MBA at Booth as well? If you wish to pursue a PhD in Finance at Booth, are you required to do an MBA as well?

What about the people who just want to do a 'normal MBA' like that at Wharton - they have to go along with the super technical asset pricing shit as well?
