Business School Necessary Post Associate?

I’m currently an associate at one of the sourcing heavy growth shops that everyone talks about on here. Deal flow hasn’t been the best and I have some concerns that my ability to climb could be hurt by that.

Is it worth going to B School to continue derisking myself or will 2 years IB plus 2+ years PE be enough for me to continue at another shop? Is it still the best option to go B School and then recruit for VP roles vs lateraling for a senior associate role?

Seems like lateral opportunities can certainly be had, but I would hate to get to a place in my career where B School might be required, but I don’t have it.

I wouldn’t have to pay for it myself if I went, so the only opportunity cost would be the loss of experience and comp.

VC or GE post B school would be my ideal roles.
