Buyside Recruiting

I'm a non-target student interning within IBD at a BB this summer, and planning to recruit for buy-side opportunities in the near future. Was curious to see if I could get some advice regarding a low SAT (1140/1600) score. Study and try to score high on the GMAT? Am I screwed? I'm definitely not the same student I was in high school, but regardless it's terrible. Also, my GPA is 3.9+, not sure if that helps.

100% not screwed. The SAT score, as you pointed out, doesn't look good but it's not the end of the world. I'd highly recommend studying for the GMAT (ideally aim for a 740+ although a 700-720 would probably still be an improvement over the current SAT score).

3.9+ GPA is obviously very good - just make sure to finish out your senior year strong.

FWIW, a guy in my analyst class in banking was talking about how he planning on re-taking his ACT right when we hit the desk (not sure if he ended up following through but he was also at a non-target and then he ended up at Silver Lake / Vista / Thoma).
