Cambridge or La Sorbonne

hi guys. this is first time I'm posting even if , reading your forum since a long time. I got an offer from cambridge and la sorbone (msc econ.) and I need to decide where to go within 3 days.

I am looking around unis. websites and trying to figure out which one is the best for my career (finance industry - Asset Management / interest: macroecon. math.)... but I am still confused. I would like to hear your comments. In my opinion I have more networking opp. in paris, while cam. have stronger brand.

what do you guys think about it? Do you have some information that can be shared with me and make my decision easier?

cheerio,

cambridge is thw worlds strongest econ school. Cambridge hands down. If it was math and it wasnt sorbonne but dauphine, that would be challening but econ? cant go wrong with cambridge

As a French student, I can tell you that La Sorbonne is famous only among foreigners. Nobody wants to go there to study except for a few Msc (Corporate Finance for i.e or Law). Graduating from La Sorbonne won't give you any edge in the French IB market ... (once again except for the former Msc I mentionned but it's still 2nd tier compared to HEC / Essec etc)

Thank you guys for the replies. I see that Cam leads against La Sorbonne.Well, to be honest my main concern about Cam program is the fact that Cambridge is university city and it is (my opinion) much more difficult to get good connections . Everything is in the "city" and within one year I need to graduate and get some contacts. On the other hand Paris is bigger city with more networking events and after the M1 I could apply for M2 at HEC, ENS, ESSEC, etc... (am I correct Scratchy?) I can also boost my resume and maybe apply for the CFA because as I see La Sorbonne is not a top notch in fin.circles. So guys you still believe that Cam is a safe buy?

... BTW anybody from Cam or La Sorbonne here?

Don't worry about networking. Virtually everyone gets their banking interviews online in the UK and Cambridge packs a much better name. Besides, there aren't that many people to network with in France for finance, even if you went to HEC or ESSEC. And unless you're a native French speaker, you'll find networking extremely difficult. Proximity is overrated in this case.
