Can I call myself an alum of the university if I got my MBA there?

This applies to any university, but in my case I am currently enrolled in an M7 program and wondering if I can truly, culturally and deep down, call myself a real alum of the institution as a whole.

For example, are HBS alumni real Harvard alumni?

This same question can also apply to master's degree programs like an MA or MS, or other professionals programs like a JD or an MD.

What if someone has two undergraduate degrees from let’s say the two most well-known universities in the world: Harvard and Oxford.

Would they be a rare case of somebody who is truly an alum (both culturally and officially) of both universities?

A HBS MBA graduate isn’t equal to a Harvard College graduate as far as I know. Legacy admission’s offer a good insight into this, if you are applying to Harvard College as a student who’s parent/s are a Harvard College graduate you are a legacy admission which could position you better than someone who has a very similar profile but isn’t eligible for legacy admissions. Same thing doesn’t apply if you have HBS/HKS graduate parent when you are applying to the College.

I'd say fuck it why not. I mean, you've spent tuition, presumably multiple years there, and have a degree with the name on it.
My gauge is whether or not you'd be admitted into the Harvard Club. Since HBS grads are, then yes, I would say you could call yourself a Harvard Alum.
