Can joining certain school clubs give a bad impression?

If one was to join buy-side only clubs (say trading, PE etc), would this give a bad impression when recruiting for sell-side roles such as IB M&A?

It shows that more than likely you are interested in PE, so why would they hire you if they expect you to jump to PE ASAP?

Absolutely. I joined the League of Legends club and in my interviews I was constantly grilled with questions like:

  • Have you showered in the past week?
  • What's your go-to McDonald's item you regularly doordash?
  • Where is the clitoris?

Honestly, not worth it. Don't join.
