Colby College

How is Colby College? It seems to be on par in with the other top NESCACs (Amherst, Williams, Bowdoin, Midd) in terms of alumni in finance. Any ideas on NYC placement? It seems Citi is hosting some recruitment program there (http://www.colby.edu/news/2014/12/05/colby-pilot-…). Any ideas? Thanks.

This is in no way an attack just trying to gain some insight from OP. What is the draw to a liberal arts college in Maine? Why would you not want to go to an equivalent school that an MD would know the name of, in a warmer location, with football games and tailgates where you will have a bigger social scene and hotter girls. I know for some people its preference but I personally think this opens a bigger alumni network and more on campus organizations (fraternities, another network). Not sure what bigger schools are of similar academic stature to Colby but Id imagine a UCLA or Vandy or something of the like would provide this. Again, not an attack just inquiring.

The draw is the experience. Frankly, you're doing it all wrong if you're picking a college solely based on whether their is OCR for BB's. College is about more than just getting a job after you graduate. Frankly, when I see people on this site talking about picking a school based on OCR, it's puzzling to me. What's even more weird to me is when people talk about transferring; it almost feels like people on this site either are super lame and have no friends/relationships they would be leaving behind or just don't care...which is bizarre to me at least.

To OP -- Colby is not on par with the schools you mentioned. However, Colby is still a very respected school that seems to be on the rise (when I was applying, it was ~20-25 of LACs, but it seems to have gone up since then). If you do well there, then I don't think you would have too much trouble landing a decent gig somewhere. If you like the school that much to consider ED, go for it.

Right thats what I am getting at. It seems like he only wants this college for the recruiting and I was mentioning other fun things that come with a bigger school. You seem to have attended a LAC. What is the experience you got there that was the draw?

I would say that culture, and that with college admissions, one can't snap his fingers and get into vandy. To me is seems that your just a southern guy. Warm weather is also not everyone's favorite and skiing is a no go at vandy.
