For GS DCM you can transition to a Classics (M&A) team after 2 years (maybe even before 2 years if an opportunity arises) in which case MF PE will be more likely than from Qatalyst

from London u can go into PE even as a 1st year associate so I’d perhaps do 18 months DCM 18 months M&A at Goldman

Look either you pay your dues (its pretty fucking boring if you ask me) doing DCM for roughly two years and then you lateral to classic groups at GS - path has been done quite a few times. It’s a longer time to get to PE. Also say if you do FIG DCM you’ll likely be doing FIG M&A afterwards so something to consider - which pod are you likely to join within DCM
Qatalyst doesn’t have many if any exists to MFs but its likely driven by the interest of people joining the firm (focused on Tech) leading to more GE/VC exits. I know someone who moved from GS classic to Qatalyst to focus on Tech.

Thanks, really helps me! How would you rate Qatalyst in London? Their London office is obviously a lot smaller than SF, but they still work on some of the highest profile tech deals in Europe. How would you say they stack up vs GS TMT / MS Tech in terms of exits and general experience?
