Do I need an MBA for this career switch?

1 year out of college now in a product management type of gig at a large asset manager (think Vanguard/Fidelity/T Rowe Price). Org chart wise we are within the portfolio management group, though we make none of the investment decisions. My ultimate goal is to go into credit research and possibly portfolio management, but I want to know how to get there from where I am now. Do I need CFA/M7 MBA to make this sort of transition? Will I even get into M7 with this sort of experience? Any and all advice is very appreciated.

"breeshbroosh" If I started working out of college somewhere and had my first day on the desk in August, is August - December considered my "1st year analyst" period and the next January - December my "2nd year analyst" period? Or is the former more of a stub thing and the latter makes one a 1st year analyst?

You posted this a week ago...

Yes you did all your posts are in your profile. Come on youre not that stupid. The only thing plausible is that you've had this job for less than a week

And noone with any sense tries to switch jobs a week in. You can't put a job that you worked for 2 weeks on a resume

Both CFA and an MBA would help, though personally I would go the networking + CFA route.

Can't advise you on whether you'd get in M7 or not based off your job title alone.

Life is too short to be on WSO. But here I am.

For anyone worth while reading (obviously not op) m7 look for people who were successful at every job they had with increasing responsibilities and promotions not people who failed at their positions and blamed it on the position being below them. That is the mo of a chronic loser
