Does a top 10 MBA program make sense if my career path has a low ROI?

Hello everyone,

I'm in the Southeast working in Corporate Finance and I intend to continue staying in the region and career path after MBA. From a compensation perspective, I don't think a MBA will yield a large ROI because I'm already on-track to be a manager before I apply for MBA and I think my post-MBA career path only assumes a couple of promotions (Senior Manager > Director > and probably cap at VP).

But I'm still interested in a top MBA for a couple of reasons.

1.) It gives me brand recognition (I did my undergrad at a non-target) and a potential network of connections that will be helpful to get noticed during the application process and land an interview at my target companies. My past experience has been tough since I've never heard back from my target companies and I had to settle for alternatives.

2.) It will also help me get noticed for corporate Finance roles doing interesting assignments such as M&A, corporate development, etc.

3.) It may make it easier and quicker to transition to other companies. I hope I can have a long-term career with a single company, but I'm also worried about being vulnerable when I'm older in a senior role and my company doesn't work out (layoffs, restructuring, etc.)

Overall, I don't think a MBA will be extremely helpful for my future compensation given where I'm at and where I hope to go. But I think it will make it easier to get noticed by my top choices and keeps me attractive from a professional perspective as I get older. Do you guys think that MBA still makes sense for me? Thank you!
