ESSEC (Master Finance) vs Imperial (Master Finance & Accounting)
Hey, I got offers for both the Master in Finance at ESSEC and the Master in Finance & Accounting at Imperial Business School.
I don't speak French but confident that I could reach somewhat of a conversation level befroe / during my Master. Curious to hear what everyone thinks about reputation and especially placements. Mostly interested in PE and Consulting. Not 100% set on London, would def also take a job in Paris if my lack of French isn't a problem. Ultimately I want to either return to Germany (my home country).
When comparing ESSEC's Master in Finance and Imperial's MSc in Finance & Accounting, here are the key factors to consider based on the most helpful WSO content:
Reputation
Placement
Language Barrier
Returning to Germany
Final Thoughts
Both programs are excellent, but your decision should hinge on your language skills, preferred location, and whether you value a one-year or two-year structure.

Lack of French is the biggest problem for Paris recruitment. You need to already be at a good level before starting.
Essec would limit you unfortunately. It's not a strong target, particularly in international placements unlike hec or escp, so without French forget it. Imperial might be better but not sure how the accounting one places compared to the MiF. Either way it's more recognised abroad.
I would go with Imperial. The F&A places quite well if you have previous internship experience. Given you speak German and English you could easily recruit for both Germany and UK
Imperial ofc. Essec is not a target outside of paris
