For Post-MBA Associates: M&A, S&T, ER, or AM
Curious to know what the pros and cons (and comp) for each of these are.
I am planning to do my MBA at a T15 in Sep 2023 with no prior finance experience.
M&A seems to be the most common route for post-MBA associates and is the one I'm leaning towards.
you don't have a bright future in ER if you can't do basic research that has been covered ad nauseum on this forum..
Dont do sellside ER - comp is trash for a post T15 MBA I can promise you that much
Is it just the comp that’s not worth it? What about the job itself?
S&T is basically not an option from MBA anymore.
ER is very Niche- only CS recruited for this at my M7
nkt sure what you mean by AM- if you mean bank asset management they don’t recruit at MBA. If you mean mutual funds they do but it’s extremely competitive and looks for previous investing experience.
M&A is a common OCR path

What about MF/UMM PE and hedge funds?
If you have pre-mba PE experience and go to a top school.

industry coverage is actually more common than M&A
ECM/DCM not common at least at my school - lev fin slightly more common
