Gap Year From School – Effect on offer?

Hi, I was looking for some advice on my current situation and couldn't find anything else on WSO.

I am an incoming Summer Analyst for 2022 summer and accepted the position last October. When I applied, I was in the Class of 2023. However, for various reasons, I am currently on a personal, voluntary gap year until Spring 2023. I had a few questions/am looking for some advice:

1. Should I/do I need to inform the firm about my gap year?

2. Are offers contingent on current enrollment (there was nothing about this condition in the offer letter)?

Thanks!

The firm should know about this, especially if your potential start date is delayed significantly.

The reasons for the gap year would be relevant, to explain why, how long, what your plans are, travel, etc

I am all for travel and have traveled extensively through my life. but since you have a signed offer I would simply see how this can be worked out.

If your gap year has no impact on your work for the firm and if you don't have any obligation to inform them about absences, then no IMO.
