Georgetown MSB vs SFS
Is there any difference in terms of recruiting when it comes to attending SFS vs MSB? Does one schools provide anything more valuable than the other doesn’t when it comes to opportunities for industries like banking or private equity or maybe MBB?

The on-campus recruiting events are generally open to students from all 4 undergrad schools. Obviously would need to explain in your story why you chose SFS over MSB if you want to go into banking. In terms of PE, not many kids go straight into PE from Georgetown, so likely does not make much of a difference in the long run.
Agree with Mergerz about how not many kids go straight to PE (so that is not really relevant). I've had friends who went to MSB and SFS end up in banking. From what I hear, I think the main difference in opportunities is with consulting. For some reason, I believe the SFS does way better with MBB than McDonough. Given that I think both have the same banking opportunities, I would go to SFS if you might be considering MBB.
SFSer here, going into high finance post grad. You're right, SFS does do much better in MBB, a lot of kids here place there, its really popular here. If you want to go into banking, you can still do it while in the SFS...a ton of kids do. And you don't have to deal with the MSB curve. If you chose the SFS I'd suggest majoring in Global Business, which is probably the most popular major for IB kids in the SFS along with IECO.
What if someone was to major in something like STIA? Would it pose a hinderance to recruiting?
not at all, what you major in doesn't really matter. A few STIA kids go into IB, less than GBUS or IECO. With those majors you can still demonstrate interest in finance. Grades, Clubs, Experience are most important
MSB student here. STIA do very well. To be completely honest though, it's more about your story. SFS and MSB are both very prestigious in the finance industry specifically IB, and as long as you're in relevant extracurriculars, got decent academics (3.7+), and put in effort, you'll get whatever you want. Also MSB curve just got a bump and now inflates in a decent amount of classes. Don't let the curve decide your major.
What major in SFS would you recommend for consulting?
Current MSB student here, I had the same question when I was matriculating. All schools at GU place very well, and I've come to realize that your success in recruiting is heavily dependent on your hard work and agency, and has very little to do with you being an MSBer or SFSer.
Your grades, extracurricular involvements, and internships will be of much greater importance when it comes to expanding your opportunities. Pick the school in which you feel you'll enjoy the coursework and be more motivated to engage with the material.

Would I be held back due to the fact I’d enter as a sophomore instead of freshmen?
Depends on how many credits transfer from your previous school, but mostly likely no. There are a bunch of transfers who come in to the MSB sophomore year and do great. Highly doubt you will be held back. Also, keep in mind that when you transfer in, your GPA will not transfer over. you will start with a straight up 0.00 so that first semester is super important.
I think SFS is the better option as you'll have a lot more flexibility and the better brand name. If you're gunning for IB/Consulting but later decide your passion is international relations you'll still be fne.
While this is true, in 10 years, the school on your resume is still Georgetown. Can't really go wrong either way and I'd choose what you're more passionate about. Can't argue with SFS prestige but the MSB is still top 5 in P&Q so you're gonna get prestige wherever you go. SFS flex is nice since you have STIA, GBUS, and IPEC though.
MSB senior here - realistically there is no difference in recruiting for banking. Agree 100% with @young-and-reckless
