Georgetown MSF Experiences?
If anyone here has done Georgetown's masters in finance, or know someone who has—what is it like?
Is it worth it, coming from an unrelated undergrad/field? What opportunities did you get right after the program? What are these career services and recruiting like? Do GU alumni respond to networking, even if they were undergrad or MBA?
I'd love to hear the details.
Thanks in advance!
Best MSF other than MIT, maybe vandy, good placement and best salary
can you give more details on what makes it the best? and do you know if the school has good connections for placement or if the students have to network a lot?
I saw the career outcomes report but you never know what job titles people have at those big name institutions or how much the avg salary is driven up by people with experience
I looked it up and the career report gives salary pre and post experience 91k vs 143k plus the industries and the companies listed, prob not gonna get GS/MS/JPM but PWP and solid UMM is on there for example. Lots of WM/consulting it looks like. I considered something similar at one time. Vandy may have slightly better MM placement for example, I’m not sure, but the salaries/placement for DC are just better. Corp finance/ dev roles are also better.
bump, need more ppl to talk
Currently in the program so can’t talk too much about the outcomes. However, I will say, the course material is really solid and the GTown brand name alone will open up doors and land you interviews/looks from employers.
Alumni will pick up the phone but, as you would expect with a hybrid/online program, the network probably isn’t as strong as many of the in-person MSF programs. However, at the end of the day, I was kind of in the camp that I don’t need someone else to get me a job.
what kind of outcomes do you imagine people getting, and where at (dc or nyc). do they have events for any type of networking too?
ps: i got accepted for next yr, but rlly dont know how to think of it and what would be available for me for front office either IB/levfin/commercial banking/private credit opportunities
