Global Platinum Securities

Just wondering if any monkeys had any experience with Global Platinum Securities, and could advise on what the interview process is like, or how much knowledge they expect you have when they interview you.

As well, just curious if anyone has any thoughts on if it truly lives up to all the hype I've been hearing about it on my campus - I've been hearing that it is effectively the main way to get into any of the top jobs when you're coming out of UG (ex: PJT, Silverlake, GSIP)

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

Great program - I think the "feeder" part is true to an extent. However, the more important thing is that you're with people who are like-minded and extremely driven to exceed in finance in the early part of their career, which gives you a huge edge over people who may be equally intelligent but just undecided. A lot of the top jobs, including SLP PJT and GSIP as you mentioned, have had kids go through the program.

That definitely seems like a valid point, just sort of staying in that culture seems like it would be really helpful. Since you seem to know about the program, can you comment on what kind of interview questions they ask? I'm trying to figure out if it's mainly fit/behaviorals to know if I can just focus on those, or if I should try to learn DCFs for January (recruiting).

Definitely won't hurt your resume or job opportunities.

Generally speaking, if you go to one of the schools that makes you eligible for GPS you are already sitting pretty. There's a fair amount of kids from my campus in the program and professionally they are doing well, but they aren't leaps and bounds further than students not in the program. To give you examples, these kids are going full-time in IBD at top BBs. A few had PE/HF looks, but declined. But non-GPS kids also had PE/HF looks as well.

To ConradPaul's point, from a technical standpoint these kids are crushing it. There's a general threshold of information you are expected to know to secure IBD offers. These kids have mastered that and their understanding of finance and investing goes well beyond the basics. If you are truly interested in finance it's a great opportunity as you'll be around like-minded students and get exposure to things that you may not get in an academic setting (especially if you go to one of the non-finance schools eligible).

It is incredibly selective, so I would apply. Definitely reach out to the kids on your campus that are members, to talk about their experiences, reasons for joining, and interview process. I'm not plugged into how selections are made, but I'm sure the GPS members on your campus have some say.
