GMAT for Consulting Recruitment (due to meh GPA)

Due to a tough freshman year, my GPA at a target school is very mediocre (3.6) considering it is an easy major. Going into senior year FT consulting recruitment, would taking the GMAT be a good idea to counterbalance that GPA? What would a good score be to be considered for MBB? Is this a good idea?

The career center has told me that recruiters will see on my transcript that my freshman year was bad, but I recovered. I think we all know there is no chance recruiters actually go through transcripts in that level of detail.

Thank you in advance.

Might be a good idea but you have to think of a good reason to explain why you took the GMAT as they’ll probably be curious why. Also, no way recruiters go through transcripts pre offer
