GMAT Info

I took the GMAT on Monday and scored a 690. I've heard some mixed reviews and I'm not really sure if I should take it again mostly because I'm not sure if I can even raise my score by 30 pts or so. Anyway, here's a bit of info about my background.

I worked at an investment bank in nyc and now I do corporate development for a large internet company. I have a total of 4 yrs work experience. As for my grades, I have a 3.6 gpa from a top 50 university and a graduate degree in accounting from a top 20 school.

I'm really just looking for some advice on whether I really need to sit through this test again to have a fighting chance at a top 10 school. What is the real difference b/w a 690 and a 700? Thanks in advance for anyone's help.

your GMAT is fine, those 4 years of experience will more than make up for the 10 points.

yes I am now an expert in that too :P

Well actaully I would say I'm 25% informed right now in that...but give it time

690 is not too bad... that was my score, and I've done pretty well, but you have to make sure you have everything else down solid (story, essays, interviews) The difference between 690 and 700 is perception... I was asked at several BB interviews for my gmat score and could tell they weren't too impressed, but having said that I got a couple offers so its definitely not the end of the world.

thanks for everyone's thoughts. I'm actually not that interested in going back into banking (my time as an analyst was more than enough for me to handle). I'm just more interested in my prospects of an mba at a good school. From the sounds of your post, I'm better off focusing the rest of my time on my applications. That's good to know.

These top 10 schools are so uber competitive, why leave any room for debate on account of just 10 pts? I'd re-take it. At least I think it's worth it. You're so close!!
