Grad school after UG
Hi guys. Been thinking a lot about this recently. Currently in my summer between junior and senior years. Interning in ER this summer, however it is unpaid. Anyway, I am wondering what you think about going for an M.A at a top program (Harvard, SAIS, etc) right after undergrad.... I know it is difficult to do, but if it could be done, is it at least worth a try? I know most people say it is important to work for a couple of years first then go, however, if you could avoid the couple years of bitch work, should you? I know MBA is different.. I am talking about an MA here.
In Belgium and other EU-countries, it is standard procedure for someone to get an MA right after UG (which only grants you a BA right?).
Though it seems that UG degrees in the USA usually take 4-5years (compared to 3 in EU)? In that case I wouldn't really bother doing the MA. Get some work experience and go for the MBA instead.
Are you at a target Uni right now? If yes: get some work experience and go for an MBA later on If not: apply to some high target unis and get that MA, if longer than 2years I wouldn't bother though...
bump
Both HKS & SAIS "require" 2-3 years of work experience. They do no explicitly require it, but over 95% of admitted applicants have it. Only MA you could get into without work experience is Econ.
