GRE scores for M7 schools

Hi All,

I took the GRE last year (prospective PhD applicant) and scored 162Q/163V/5.5AW. However, I recently decided to take a job in strategy consulting at a boutique (think LEK/Parthenon/ATK/OW) and am now considering business school in 3-4 years. I was wondering how this GRE score would be viewed by adcoms?

I realize that this is a frequently discussed topic, and I have googled and searched these forums extensively. Using the ETS score converter, I am getting 2 different GMAT conversions: 680 on the new scale, and 700 on the old. I know these values are low for MBA business schools">M7 schools, but when I researched GRE scores reported by individual programs (Poets and Quants website), they are all in the 162-166 range, which is confusing.

I would love to hear WSOers' input and thoughts on this, and thanks in advance for the help!

Business schools use GRE to let in "unique" and "diverse" students without weighing down their gmat average (GRE isnt reported to US News and the other rankings). If you aren't a unique or diverse candidate, take GMAT.

The average GRE score at a lot of the MBA business schools ">M7 schools is equivalent to like 650 GMAT, which is absurd...but it is what it is...
