GRE generally has harder verbal so it'd probably bury you
GRE in my opinion is easier on the verbal in the sense that it requires less critical thinking. You really just need to study the vocab.
I was studying for the GMAT and recently switched to studying for the GRE.
I didn’t like the no calculator rule for the GMAT and also more programs accept the GRE, so I’m just casually studying for it.
The Verbal sections on the GMAT and the GRE test similar skills: reading comprehension, critical thinking, and grammar.
There isn’t a huge amount of difference between the two; however, the GRE is generally considered to have a slightly more challenging Verbal section. It tends to include more challenging vocabulary and reading passages, which can make it especially difficult if you’re not a native English speaker. Also, the GRE’s Verbal section tests grammar more than the GMAT’s Verbal section.
In what way does GRE test grammar?
took 2 of the given practice tests for GRE after I signed up. Got 170Q/165V avg for the practice tests and ended up with 170Q/168V. Didn't do anything else particularly. I bought some books for GMAT, but seemed like a lot of work. However, I'm sure they are both similar enough that it doesn't really matter.
