GRE vs GMAT for incoming MBB

Hey! Just graduated from HYP and starting at MBB in the next couple months. Want to get a GRE/GMAT score before starting so I don't have to worry about it in a couple years when applying to business school.

I've heard the GMAT is preferred, but I'm not sure I have enough time to prepare for it's quant section before starting work. The GRE sounds more doable because I just have to memorize a long list of vocab (I find it's quant section much easier).

Is it worth grinding out the GMAT or is a high percentile GRE score enough? Will it make a difference for HSW vs M7? Thanks!

anecdotally, ive heard although lots of M7s say they don't have a preference, there is a slight lean towards the GMAT. This is probably more true with programs that have a larger international enrollment, as most non-native English speakers opt for the GMAT due to less weightage on English sections
