HELP! Taking an MBA course this summer!
Hello everyone.
I've been fortunate enough to interview for a program at Columbia University called Business Practice. This will be the first year Columbia offers this program. Essentially the program is a combination of a 3 credit course with a full time internship. You can visit the website for more details here: http://ce.columbia.edu/summer/business-practice
Here is the course description of the class I would be taking:
"What are the management issues facing leaders in an increasingly complex information and knowledge environment, and how do we address them? In this course, you will learn the basic principles of management and leadership as they relate to enterprise-wide information and knowledge services management. Focal topics include planning, financial management, human resources, change management, and the corporate culture. Classroom discussions focus on leadership skills and knowledge-sharing in the promotion of innovation and change. The course covers the “aspirational” elements of knowledge strategy, and includes extended discussion of the practical aspects of implementation."
To my understanding, this is a graduate school level course taught by MBA faculty. As excited as I would be to get this opportunity, I would be lying if I told you I'm not nervous as fuck. So I come to WSO in hopes of finding any tips from you all on taking a grad school level course and specifically one on management. The program starts in July so that is definitely enough time to knock out a few books. Any kind of advice is welcome, thank you!
This is a super soft skills course and will be incredibly easy. You have nothing to worry about. MBA classes are generally pretty simple (aside from some of the super technical quant focused ones in my opinion).
