High school sr advice

Have a nephew leaving a top high school for college this year. Is interested in IB but also looking at vandy. Gave him the advice that he needs to be taking finance classes as an undergrad or he'll end up needing to take level I to prove he knows something or do an MBA. Don't know if that's solid advice. Would hate to direct him away from his first choice if it's the wrong advice. But having gone the masters route it kinda felt like a waste of time.

Major doesn't matter too much as long as its tangential to finance (Finance, Accounting, Bus Admin, Econ etc.) Even humanities majors do great as long as they're at a top school. He just needs to focus on getting into as many top schools as he can, then recruiting is all about networking and interviewing well, finance knowledge is self-studied.
