How to manage my applications (LBS, ESSEC, ESCP, LSE)

Hi,

French student with a BBA from EDHEC, 6-month internship in M&A + 6-month internship in PE.

I only applied to LBS MFA and ESSEC MiF for the January session and got accepted to ESSEC, invited to interview for LBS. My problem is that ESSEC requires me to pay the 5k fees within 2 weeks while LBS final result will be in about a month.

Do you think I have a way to match the deadlines by delaying ESSEC and/or pressuring LBS ?

If not, I think about refusing ESSEC and apply to ESCP/LSE to secure a back-up if LBS goes wrong.

I have no preference working in France or in the UK later on, maybe my school ranking is wrong as it seems that people disagree on other topics. Being noted that the price of the MSc is not a subject taken into account in the choice. Obviously want to work in IBD M&A PE.

What would you do ?

UPDATE, NEED ADVICE

Managed to delay my deadline with ESSEC to tomorrow but seems like LBS won't give me an answer before the official deadline on the 16th.

Considering I am pretty confident with my ability to land ESCP but there is still an uncertainty (I don't think I really have a shot at LSE considering how much I have waited and only 680 Q48 GMAT).

If you were in my place, would you take the risk not paying the fees of ESSEC or should I pay them because I would look very dumb if I end up with nothing.

TBH, it is not that much about the 5k, it is mostly about paying for something I might consider as a waste next week.

Send an email to LBS ASAP and wait until last moment. ESSEC is much better than ESCP so if you have no answer from them consider paying. Unless you are willing to reapply next year and ask a deferral (to save the cash aha).

I have like 10 emails exchanged with the recruitment manager but cannot guaranty me anything. Feels as flexible as French administration

No point in waiting another year, I already took a gap this year but thx for advice

Paid the €5k to ESSEC, they were fair to give me an extra week I have to respect that even if I deep down hope this is wasted money, kinda non-intuitive situation.

Anyway, no news from LBS so I guess I will have the answer on the 16th. Hope to see you in class ;)

I’m sad you didn’t lose the money, but well played. Will you be attending there in the fall?

I’m sad to not be searching for you in class this summer - would’ve been a fun mission.

Update: I just got accepted to LSE Msc Acc&Fin

Do you think I should go for it or stick with ESSEC MiF ? Probably one of the hardest decision of my life ngl I was expected to be straight rejected with such late application, I did not plan to have to think about it

I am not so sure because:

(i) LSE is probably the UK univ with the most alumni in France and most known by seniors (in this sense, they might not differ Acc&Fin vs Fin)

(ii) Considering my very own situation I have a BBA and no academic exchange (Covid) so going to LSE might somehow erase the fact that I did not go though prepa. Tell me if you think I am absolutely wrong about this
