If you were me, would you do this?

I went to a non target school in Vancouver BC about a year away from finishing my accounting degree. Only accounting firms recruit from this school.

My passion is with the markets and my dream job is on a trade desk at a BB or Hedgefund. Would you think its worth dropping out of the school I'm in to try and get into a target school (UBC) and invest another 4 years of my life to get a BComm? Im 21.

So im pretty much asking is it worth to drop out of a non target to start over at a target?

Thank you.

Hate to break it to you fella, but UBC isn't really a target school for high finance recruiting (PMF program is really good for placing into investment banking). In terms of sales and trading, because Vancouver has such a small finance scene, you are better off doing some internships that shows you have quantitative skills and showing that you have the drive to get there.

If you do insist on starting over, I would recommend schools like Waterloo. UBC probably does place people in the big 5 (Not BB), but prob in the amount of 2-4 every year (would love to have ppl in Sauder to share their knowledge, but I haven't seen Sauder kids going into S&T on a regular basis. Be aware that competition in Waterloo will be tough though. You are essentially competing with a bunch of Asians that probably did very well in their pascal contests back in high school. You need to be very confident at your quant skills if you choose to do school again.
