Is Georgetown a target school for EBs
Hi I’m a incoming freshmen at Georgetown in the Business School looking to break into the highest paying firms such as Qatalyst or CVP. I was wondering if going to Georgetown would hinder me. If you go to Georgetown please give me tips on the placement process etc etc. I was thinking of transferring hopefully to Cornell since I got the transfer option for Dyson as well after freshmen year and applying to Wharton Stanford Harvard. Anyone please give advice on how to maximize my chances for recruiting at Georgetown or if it makes sense to go to Cornell thanks.
(1) If this isn't a troll.. just look up their career outcomes report. They publish it every year. Georgetown is definitely a target for some of the highest caliber firms on WS
(2) Based on how you framed this post, the only thing hindering you from a shot at Wall Street would be yourself
Yes, can attest to the cvp part. We have sent consistently at least one person per year in the last 5 years to cvp and they also come on campus. Once you get the interview your school doesn't matter. But please give Georgetown a chance prestige doesn't matter after a certain point and all the schools you listed will get you looks everywhere with the right resume and networking done.
Another GU student here: Absolutely not going to pretend that it’s as much of a mega target as Harvard/Wharton but if you work hard, the school is not going to hold you back. As a non div candidate I got interviews at top EBs (CVP,EVR). Like poster above said, give the school a shot + work hard (just like most people who are successful in recruiting) and you’ll be fine.
Just say you’re looking to get into FTP ($140k base btw)
What in the hardo is this, CVP will cut you off the bat if you come off like this lmao.
Lol at Cornell dyson giving you a better shot at qatalyst compared to McDonough - there’s like one alumnus there from Cornell. Just grind and do your best, join things like GUSIF and possibly even GPS and you’ll be completely fine with EBs.
Lmao FWIW both GUSIF and GPS got smoked this year
Do you know what the placement is for Georgetown this year?
Interesting, can you share some results?
Definitely a target for Evercore. Only firm I can speak on
100% Top 5 Target for most IBs. Georgetown grads all over the Street. See Peak Framework's analysis.
what is MC?
edit: nvm realized it's Moelis & Co.
yes, nearly all EBs come on campus to recruit - EVR definitely goes the hardest as their founder is gtown class of 1967 and there's a massive gtown alumni network at the firm. LAZ & CVP also come on campus to recruit and gtown has multiple alumni who are higher-ups at the firm. haven't seen qatalyst ever come, but ik that they only recruit from a few select schools & while ppl have gotten MOE out of gtown, i haven't seen them too much on campus. bottom line: you're in a very enviable spot with gtown - gl with recruiting!
also, if ur into buyside at all, gtown places excellent - the 2024 class had 2 in BX PE & 2 in KKR PE, respectively. have also seen ppl land Warburg Pincus after doing junior summers at a EB/BB, while TPG, Bain Capital, P72, ares, and many others come to do info sessions. although gtown isn't known as a STEM school, have seen interested ppl land SIG, with a decent presence & alumni base, as i heard the founder's kids graduated from gtown. furthermore, silver lake ceo egon durban and ares founder tony ressler are gtown alums and have heard that the school is trying to connect with them more. hope that was all helpful & gl with recruiting!
Can I DM you? I'm a rising sophomore at Georgetown trying to navigate recruiting next year
