IU Kelley vs Purdue Krannert For A Finance/Computer Science Major
I'm currently trying to choose between these two schools. I want a BB IB job upon graduation, and I know Kelley has decent placement in this field. However, I also know that Purdue overall is a more well-known and respected school, and its science programs are highly regarded, along with a decent business school. If I have my eye on IB from freshman year, would it be a smarter decision to distinguish myself as a business/CS major at Purdue, or would simply graduating from Kelley be better? Any help is appreciated.

Dont know about Purdue but for Kelley first make sure you get admitted "direct" its very hard to get in if you're not incoming directly.
Secondly, you need to get a 3.5 GPA and than you can join the IB Workshop. There are 2 workshops the IB and IM. For both you'll get interviewed by the Professors. For the IB Workshop theres also a course you need to get an A in.
Make sure to get an IB internship before joining the IB workshop. A lot of kids will apply so competition will be fierce. Also start to form a relationship with the Professor who conducts the IB workshop early on and don't wait till junior or senior year. Stay focused and start networking the day you join the school.
In IB world brand name matters a lot either youre boutique, MM or Bulge. If you get the Bulge name things get easier. Goodluck.
I know this thread is old, but if OP still cares, here is my take on it.
I disagree about the whole "direct admit or bust" for Kelley. More than half of the students who are in Kelley didn't get direct admission. If you keep a passable GPA (3.3+) you should get in. If you are looking to go into i-banking, you should be getting a much higher GPA than 3.3, so getting into Kelley shouldn't be a challenge. Just get Bs in all the required courses and you will automatically get in. They don't really tolerate B- though, so don't get any of those in the required courses and you'll be admitted without question. If you fear that you might not get in based on grades, memberships to clubs and other established connections can possibly save you from being denied.
In the business world Purdue is not more well respected or known than IU. Kelley is infinitely better at everything especially undergrad business than Krannert.
And I have no dog in fight. I went to UNC. I had friends at both IU and Purdue. Kelley kids are just more well adjusted and shits on purdue when it comes IB placements or really any other business related placement.
But if you want to study CS, go to Purdue. But otherwise, this is a pretty easy choice.
