I've been awarded a scholarship, do I add it to my resume?
The scholarship is to attend a master's program at a university. I do not plan on attending the program. The university is quite prestigious - as a result, would it add value to my resume if I were to add it there? Or would it seem weird given that I did not actually attend the program?
Note that the scholarship is merit-based.
I think just add unless you have better one liners on your resume that could beat ur scholarship offer
Seems silly imo if you are not attending.
This is really foolish imo. I mean this as illustrative and not to brag, but I got into a bunch of top undergrads many with large scholarships, have gotten a couple great job offers I didn't take, and got into 5 MBA programs 3 of which I had large scholarships for three, but I'd never put any of that on a resume. It's just not super relevant and comes across as douchey.
Yeah fair enough.
None of the "top" undergrads give merit-based aid though...
I was an athlete...never said merit.
Unless it was Rhodes, Marshall, or Churchill; I would not include it on my resume personally.
Lol except I’m not a US citizen or resident. There is no way for me to qualify for any of these.
I think this is a good question - only if you were attending the program (and if the scholarship was really prestigious).
The reason this question is a bit foolish is because you do not plan on attending the program. I mean - imagine applying to 500 jobs, getting lets say 25 interviews, 10 job offers at the best places (MBB, Big 4, PE, IB, etc..) Do you put on your resume that you work at Mckinsey.... but you got an offer from BCG or GS or Carlyle - even though you don't work for them?
The truth is that you were 'offered' a scholarship, but you never really attended. So did you really get the scholarship? No right, because you rejected it.
Yep - agreed. I don't think I'll put it on. I've deferred my offer for next year, and if I decide to go and I get the scholarship again, I'll probably put it on my resume.
