First of all congrats on the scores. You definitely don't need to take the GMAT as you have more than proven yourself with both your GRE scores and GPA. I am planning to take the GREs over in October. I didn't really study effectively the first time, plus it took it during finals. Can you give me some pointers on how you achieved such high scores. I am planning to apply to msf programs and I need the extra boost to get into a good school. My undergrad GPA was jst average(3.0). Feel free to PM me :). Thanks and congrats on the job too.
Your most recent GPA/school name will count more for you than older ones. You have nothing to sneeze at now. Undergrad is fairly far in your mirror at this point, and considering how well you've smashed the GRE, I'm not sure how taking another standardized test would make you more appealing for another grad program unless, of course, you're looking exclusively at the M7 schools.
Congrats on the scores. I took the GRE last weekend, so I feel your pain. I guess the point I'd add is this: Most of the top tier BSchool programs won't take the GRE, no matter how great your scores were. Unfortunately, if an MBA is something you're really going for, then you'll need to take the GMAT. That is, of course, assuming you intend to apply to the top ten sort of programs. I'm sure that many of the second-tier business school programs will take GRE scores, but you'd be hard pressed to convince HBS to do so. Hope this helps and again, congrats. It's quite a relief finishing that damn test right?
most of the top tier grad schools will take the gre -- they were the first ones to switch -- but they definitely PREFER a gmat... a weaker gmat will definitely outperform a GRE. that being said i dont think you really need to take the gmat -- although your translative score to a gmat isnt going to be top percentile for each :)
I was reading the Ross admissions yesterday and it claims they are indifferent to which one is used. This incoming class will be the first one to have the option of applying with it.
Hi Cries,
Congrats on your GRE score. I agree that you should not be concerned about taking the GMAT.
With regards to your low GPA and your business school application, I recommend you read this case study. It is about a candidate with a low GPA who was accepted into Columbia and Chicago Booth:

Please do not use the word "rape" in that way. It is both extremely insulting and extremely unprofessional.
