I'd recommend an XPS 13 for that price range. I've got the XPS 15, and it has a very solid, clean build. It has run incredibly well for the past 4 years. Mine has a 1050ti so I also do some light gaming on the side. I'd certainly avoid apple products if you're focusing on finance since excel shortcuts are different and will require you to relearn them for any job in finance since Windows OS is the standard.
No real major issues. I had to replace the battery earlier this week but it’s a 4 year old machine that was used very heavily for college coursework and some light gaming. Good thing about the XPS is it’s extremely to fix and replace things on your own. Did it myself in less than 15 minutes and it’s working great again. Other than that everything’s been great with it and no other issues.

I was actually looking at the xps 15 but I heard so many negative reviews. Have you had any issues?

The XPS 15 is alright but do not get the XPS 13 if you value your sanity
I have had both macbooks and windows. Get the XPS 15 with 8 GB Ram. Fantastic and very powerful computer.
Personally have that for schoolwork and macbook air for chill stuff (like wso)
Was 8gb of ram enough for excel tasks?
If your modeling is efficient.
