Loughborough University (UK) - Top 5 school in the UK??

Hi Guys,

American here. I received an unconditional offer for an MSc. in Management at Loughborough University and I am waiting to hear back from Bath, Warwick, York, and Manchester.

I'm noticing from the league tables that Loughborough far outpaces some of the Russell Group schools - although from my research it seems as though there is an element of prestige associated with the Russell Group; Similar to that of the Ivy Leagues in the US. It seems like Lboro came out of fucking nowhere and it has risen quite substantially in the rankings.

How does Loughborough fare in terms of placement, job prospects, and how is it perceived in the UK?

Part of the reason I'm looking to attend school in the UK is ultimately to get a job in London and the fact that the GMAT or GRE is not required for attendance for many of the programs. My end goal is Big 4/Tier 2 Management Consulting (does not need to be a strategy, although I know it looks great). My background is 2 years of boutique IB Exp and 1 year of risk management.

Any current students of LBoro on this forum? Can anyone provide any details about the school?

Happy to provide further context if needed.

Loughborough University is ranked 42nd in UK according to the Times Higher Education, also, it is not in the top 100 in the world. It's really not the best choice for your MSc. The best option from the ones you've got is Warwick, IMHO.

The preference for me personally is the following: Warwick > Manchester > York > Bath.

As for Loughborough, I don't think that it would place better than Warwick or Manchester.

“Destiny is a gift. Some go their entire lives, living existences of quiet desperation, never learning the truth that what feels as though a burden pushing down upon their shoulders is really a sense of purpose that lifts us to greater heights. Never forget that fear is but the precursor to valor, that to strive and triumph in the face of fear is what it means to be a hero. Don’t think. Become.”

Check the THE rankings, as well as the QS rankings - they are the most notable ones globally.

Loughborough is the least strong of the ones you've listed, reputationally at least.

Your target should be Warwick. Slim pickings then between Manchester/Bath/York so it would depend on the course you're looking at. All things being equal, I would probably choose Bath between these three., but that's a personal preference.

I personally wouldn't, but keep it in case you don't land anywhere else.
