Career Resources
Not sure about the program, but I think an MSF is generally better than a MA in Econ. If you do an Econ MA, make sure you have some experience, internships, and/or do some networking.
Brandeis has good networking opportunity and an excellent alumni connection to finance.
I too was recently accepted into Brandeis for the MA in international economics and finance. I'm waiting to hear back from NYU though.
What are peoples thoughts on potential careers? its not a target school but the program is good. Likelihood of MBB or IB??
What do you mean? It's not a target school but GS and Citigroup recruit students from there?
I meant that compared to other Boston area schools, its not an active recruiting place. I have heard from alumni that it is possible to be placed in these areas but was wondering how often this is the case from those working in those areas already.
I dont know about specific firms but I would be comfortable securing a job at MM and then working onto bigger firms.
Here's a link that I found, maybe this will help you BoxerRebeller: http://www.brandeis.edu/global/pdfs/career/ibs_fact_sheet_2010.pdf
i know some alums in the industry, and they've generally been helpful individuals (translation: if you network, it will come)
It seems like Brandeis IBS has been climbing the ranks over the years. My only concern is that it's only known in the northeast.
Dublin- Not sure if you can answer this, but from your experience with Brandeis alum, do they feel that the school was successful in job placement?
didn't sound like career services is incredibly helpful, but the alumni network is great if you know how to tap into that, and things are overall improving - probably better now all around than it was when they were there
