Msc for Corporate Banking

I got to final stage for RBC corporate banking summer internship London,

I am doing a Msc in Finance next year - what university would be better for me to do this at

Msc Finance at Durham University or Msc Banking and Finance at University of Bath

I would chose Durham but the only issue I see is they don't have an internship option like Bath does for the summer term so  I would potentially have to do my Diss around my internship.

I am going to one of them for my Masters regardless but which one would be better even if marginally for Corporate Banking long-term.

For Corporate Banking, both Durham University and the University of Bath offer strong MSc programs, but there are some key factors to consider based on the most helpful WSO content:

  1. Durham University:

    • Durham is considered a semi-target school in the UK, similar to Bath, Bristol, and Warwick. It has a solid reputation and is well-regarded for finance-related programs.
    • While it lacks an internship option during the summer term, Durham's academic rigor and brand recognition could still make it a competitive choice for Corporate Banking roles.
    • You may need to manage your dissertation alongside an internship, which could be challenging but manageable with proper planning.
  2. University of Bath:

    • Bath offers a more practical edge with its internship option during the summer term. This could be a significant advantage, as internships are critical for building experience and networking in Corporate Banking.
    • While Bath is also a semi-target, the internship opportunity could give you a slight edge in terms of practical exposure and employability.

Recommendation:

If your primary concern is gaining practical experience and networking opportunities, the University of Bath might be the better choice due to its internship option. This could help you secure a full-time role in Corporate Banking more easily. However, if you value academic reputation and are confident in managing your dissertation alongside an internship, Durham University is still a strong contender.

Ultimately, the decision depends on your ability to balance academic and professional commitments and your preference for practical experience versus academic prestige.
