Msc in finance in LSE, Oxford, IE, Warwick, Imperial, and Manchester
Hey Guys,
I want your help to have an idea of my chances to be accepted in one of the mentioned schools above. I will apply for Msc in finance program in all of these schools. So, please help me set my expectations of getting accepted in them. Here is my profile:
-
bachelor of Accounting from the American University in Cairo with a CGPA of 3.39 and a major GPA of 3.45
-
I will have 2 years work experience as a credit analyst (Corporate Banking) in a top commercial bank in the middle east by the time I start the program.
-
Strong extracurricular activities during undergraduate years
-
I will sit for the GMAT soon, I am expecting to get around 670-680
So, do you think I have a good shot? I would appreciate your honest reviews.
Thanks.
Note I can only provide insight on your GPA (I'm currently at the LSE). The LSE MSc Finance is as far as I know the most competitive course at the LSE and usually only considers applicants with a first class honours I think, correct me if I am wrong but a first in the GPA system is around 3.7+? Basing only off GPA I think it may be quite competitive, however your extra-curriculars and full time work experience background may make a difference I'm unsure exactly how much weight they place on that.
what about Msc Accounting and Finance?
From what I know the MSc Accounting and Finance certainly seems to be easier to get into than the MSc Finance. If the ultimate goal is to enter IB then I think the name of the school matters much more than the program you enroll onto and hence you would do just as well in recruiting from either program. Please don't take my word as gospel as I can only offer advice based on personal experience and perspectives from going through recruiting but I get the impression that studying a Masters at the LSE will provide you with a good platform for full time recruiting regardless of program.
