Need some advice

Currently have a plan to go to a 2 year college and then transfer into either texas AnM or UT austin. The problem is I don't know if I can get an internship my 2nd year because I would still be at the 2 year college. Is it OK to take an internship in your Jr year? Or does having one under your belt right after freshman year make a big difference? I would aim to transfer into UT austin and then search for an internship. All suggestions appreciated.

Recruiting for SA generally happens the spring of sophomore year/summer going into junior year for an internship after you complete your junior year.

I see, so I don't have much of a chance unless I go straight to a semi-target 4 year, because I'll miss the internship opportunities. I was hoping to do the 2 years then transfer (plus I'm pretty sure getting good grades would be much easier at a 2 year).

I would try to transfer after one year if you can't get in for your freshman year. Also consider the school you choose to attend. UT and Texas A&M tend to place in Houston more so than NY

Thank you for the advice. I was hoping to be able to work in the Texas area because of family and friends. God knows if I ever land a position I won't ever see them lol.

You could also do 2 years at college and then transfer for another 5 semesters (2.5 years) that way you are sort of coming in as a sophomore. I would still try and get something for at least one of your summer at college even if the first summer is a regular summer job and the second summer is at a regional shop, just so you have stuff to put and talk about on your resume
