Needed advice for Undergraduate Enrollment in US(International Student) near Dallas, TX
Hello
I was considering applying to UT Dallas. OR SMU
A little intro about myself. I'm a Pakistani Citizen who visited USA just 2 weeks ago. And really liked the atmosphere.
I gave my CIE O'levels and got good grades. 4A's and 3B's,
A in Accounts A in Economics A in Mathematics A in Urdu(Pakistani Language) B in Business Studies B in Additional Mathematics B in English Language
I will also give the SAT and TOEFL this October or November. If I get supposedly 1350+ in SAT's Critical Reading and Math and 90+ in TOEFL iBT. Would I be able to get guaranteed admission in them, what about scholarships?
UTD has an annual tuition fee of about $26000 for 12 credit hours, but lets say I take 15 credit hours then it's about $30K per annum. (Since I am out of state student) Whereas SMU has about $40K tuition fees anually. I don't need to worry about living expenses since I can live at my brother's home.
Lets say I get admission in both schools. What are the chances of scholarship for me if I get 1350+ on SAT?
I have set my mind for now to do the first year from UTD or SMU. But if later on when I adjust properly and want to do my second year from UT Austin or Rice University would I be able to transfer easily if I get good grades? Or if not then suppose I do undergraduate program from UTD or SMU, and then for the graduate program I go to UT Austin, Rice or any high-rated universities that are like within 3 to 4 hours of drive to Dallas. Would this be possible? Or if I just choose to go to any high-rated university throughout USA would that be easy?
Now I'm also confused as to what field to go into. I have interest in Finance, Accounting, Economics and Business Administration. And UTD offers this degree that sort of has all of something in it http://catalog.utdallas.edu/2012/undergraduate/pr…
So this was somewhat that caught my attention and SMU does not offer it But if I choose for eg Bachelors of Science in Accounting/Finance/Business Administration It has 120 hours but if I get the double major it's 127 or 132 hours(Please visit the link to get a better idea) How much extra fees will I have to pay, and will it be very tough or something?
I also wanted to know my chances of scholarship since I am an international student so it lowers my chances and just eliminates FAFSA opportunity. Moreoever I have a co-signer to get me a loan and supposedly studying from UTD costs me in total 120K when I graduate, and I choose 'interest only' option (Meaning I will pay only interest while in school) So how much would I approximately have to pay and in how much time?
I know I asked a lot but please help me as much as you can.
Kind Regards Sheharyar
Post a few questions instead. This is tl;dr material.
Also, if you're gonna go to UT, go to UT Austin.
Your O'level suck. Work you nuts off to hit A*AA in your A levels. It is possible, but it will require a lot of work from your part. I would take Economics, Maths and Further Pure Maths as subject choices. You'll also need a lot more than 1350 on your SAT to be granted a scholarship.
