Non-Existent / Unrelated / Weak Work Experience -> Top 20 MBA -> IB
I am currently scoring, on average, 700 on my practice GMATs with very little studying. I believe I can hit around 750 since most of my mistakes are easily correctable. My GPA is low, around 3.0 from a non-selective school. My work experience is weak too, though I have had buyside experience at a small / relatively unknown firm (with great people though - ex-BB bankers and Ivy Leaguers). I am currently weighing options between law school and business school. My dream has always been to become an investment banker but I missed the train the first time around (sort of never had a shot at my school). My goal is to get in to a top 20 MBA and transition to investment banking. BB would be ideal but I am more than happy to go to a boutique. Any investment banking shop really. I am dead-set on it. My fear is that my weak WE and background will hinder me during MBA recruitment for my internship / post-MBA. How true is that? Are you guys familiar with people from weaker backgrounds getting banking?
