Non-Finance to AM/HF through H/S/W MBA
I know that it's a suuuuper long shot, but what are the best ways to break into AM/HF (LO or L/S) from a non-finance (industry or function) pre-MBA background? The only relevant exposure I have to AM/HF is that I passed the CFA Level 1.
I feel like taking classes on these subjects during my MBA won't really help because 1) it'd be too late for internship recruiting and 2) employers won't really care what classes you took (like learning swimming from a book).
Read some posts that loosely suggested networking, preparing stock pitches, and/or further pursuing the CFA, but I wanted to get input from people in the industry on what would be the best use of my time.
Thank you.
