NYC Secondaries or Boston MM Buyout
Currently based out of NYC and would like to stay in the city. Have offers for a firm with a decently sizable fund (though not MF) in a secondaries role in NYC and another from a Boston-based fund with a couple billion AUM which invests in traditional buyout. How should I think about which to accept? Both are not super well known firms from what I can tell.
Decide if you want to do PE or secondaries
Potentially decline both. Depends on how dead set you are on doing buyout. Sounds like you really want to stay in NYC and the Boston fund isn’t particularly prominent. If you’re a first year analyst then you still have some time?
Not really sure why the MS. Going into secondaries isn’t going to help land a buyout role and OP doesn’t want to go to Boston. Can take the Boston role and then try to lateral but if OP is a first year analyst, there are potentially more open spots available.
