NYU/Columbia how valuable is New York City location wise?

Hedge fund undergrad rankings generally go HYPSW > Columbia and NYU (huge advantage location wise), Dartmouth, MIT, > all others ... but my question is what is the advantage...im guessing its internships BUT arnt most internships in the summer so how is this useful if you wont be in new york assuming you dont live near new york? Or is there alot of HF interships that you can do during school? Please help me understand this. Do you agree with the rankings? Any other schools I should consider if HF out of undergrad is main goal. How big is stern vs non stern related to NYU too?

I feel like it is incredibly intuitive why location plays a big part in rankings lol. With that being said, Berkeley places better than Dartmouth and NYU and you can make a case for alot of the other schools on that list as well. The short answer is pipelines my friend, if you want the concrete answer you are looking for your best bet is researching the investment clubs that these schools have, its all about the alumni and the interns that came before you.
