Oxford/Cambridge/LSE -> US?

Hi Y'all.

I wanted to know if it was possible to go from Oxford/Cambridge/LSE to the US. I'm going to the UK this year to study econ as an undergrad (I am an american citizen) because it was cheaper, I can graduate quicker, and I want to go into law. However, looking at law school costs, and doing a ton of research on banking (what it is, the hours/lifestyle, the pay), I feel like banking seems like a good place to spend a couple of years before law school. However, I want to work in the US.

Is it possible to get a job as an investment banker in the US if I study in the UK?

Yeah I think it will be tough even with a recognizable name such as Oxford/Cambridge/LSE. Most recruiting is either done through extensive networking or on-campus and being out of the country will put you at a big disadvantage. If you can do an exchange program with a top school in the US (ivy) that might help but still not as good as attending uni in the states. Also, just curious, why do you want to do banking before law school? Why not go straight from undergrad? What do you want to do after law school? Is banking really necessary for your long-term goals?

Not going to happen unfortunately - unless you know someone who would refer you.

Why not just do your analyst stint in London before going to law school? 2 years can't be that bad
