Post MBA Careers for B2B Sales Experience

So, I'm trying to plan out my future the best I can, and if anyone helps me I'll definitely send you an edible arrangement in the future when I become wealthy.

I'll be receiving my BA in Liberal Arts from a non-target with a 3.3 - 3.4 GPA. I've taken a practice GMAT cold and got a 740. I know it's a practice but I think it says something about my aptitude.

Being my senior year, I was able to obtain a B2B sales role in one of the hottest startups ever and will be finishing my degree concurrently/online for my final semester to pursue this opportunity, and based on my past experience working full time through school I think I can absolutely KILL it at this company. I figure this could be good hook seeing as I'm literally going to have a year of brand name experience before graduating.

Ultimately I want to get an MBA from a top school (ivy or top 20) and pursue a career after getting 2-3 years in B2B SaaS sales. What are some post-MBA roles which where I could utilize my experience (or it could be looked upon favorably) and make good money (300K+). Would something like consulting be a possibility or even venture capital? Or would it be a long shot to re-brand and try to get into IBD? I'm just lost as I know that sales isn't really relevant to those fields.

What would you suggest for someone who loves business strategy, market research, client interaction and analytic (albeit sales data). Where would I thrive and have a shot? Also suggestions on the best MBA choices would be great.

Will SB any posters who can help me plan out the next decade for me haha.

I think you're too excited and need to chillax. Anyone at a good MBA (top 15) program can get into IBD/Consulting regardless of their background as long as they are good at hustling and prepare well for interviews. A friend of mine was a math teacher at an elementary school for 2.5 years before she went to get her MBA from Yale SOM and now works at Bain and Company. Just keep working hard, get into a good MBA program and you'll be fine.

I wrote this at like 4AM when my brain was running 100mph.

SB'd.

Really just curious how often people go from un-related work experience --> MBA --> high finance/consulting, etc.

Seems like it happens quite a bit more than expected. Thanks.

Other people with more knowledge of b-school admissions can comment on getting into a top school with that background (and I'm not making any statement on it-I have no idea) but if you end up liking tech why not stay in that world? Even skip over b-school if you crush it and can advance through that company and into others. I know that everyone shits on sales but if you're a good salesman you will always have a job and sales guys can make great money in the right companies selling the right products or services and not work 70+ hours per week. Or get an MBA and get into a different track in tech if you're bumping up against a ceiling without having an MBA.

If you get into a top b-school you can get into IB unless you fuck something up badly. It would be interesting to hear from other people on here who went from another industry to IB post MBA, especially from an industry like tech or the startup world where employee happiness is actually a consideration, and get their thoughts on the lifestyle of working in IB. I'd imagine it would suck to work around the clock in a pretty high pressured bland environment cranking out bullshit documents after you've worked in the tech world with a foosball table and an overall ethos, however dubious, that you're changing the world.
