Pre-MBA Investment Banking Opportunities

Hi everyone,

I hope everyone is doing well and staying healthy. I was lucky enough to get accepted into an M7 (Sloan) as an URM (African American), and am very interested in pursuing the investment banking space after pursuing the finance track at my respective school. I was wondering if anyone had any tips into how I should prepare this summer into securing an internship at a top financial institution. To be completely transparent, I graduated from undergrad in 2019, and was involved at a government consulting company for most of my professional career (I'm 24). After visiting MIT, I was told to take this summer to take it a bit easy, and do some general research in the finance space which I have little to no experience in. I'd love to exit to PE after a few years, despite how competitive that space is.

I'm sure that many of you have a ton of knowledge on this space. I'm willing to take any advice given on here.

Thanks for your time.

This summer is the time to network and apply to diversity programs. Do not wait, a friend of mine just got invited to two interviews at BBs already in a pre-MBA program. They have a chance to get an internship before they even start their MBA, and also get a very sizeable stipend for the first year of their MBA. I repeat, do not wait or "take it easy" this summer.

Thank you! I can't really find diversity programs anywhere -- especially for bulge brackets. I'm not trying to ask you to do the work for me, but do you know of any websites that I can look for that pertain to these programs?
