Rejected from IBW- What do I do?

Mid student, decent networking and technical skills. Willing to put in the work, also thought I did well on the interviews. Only place where I fucked up was not having a high GPA, and the midterm for this stupid process. I still want to recruit IB, and at this point have no preference for either BB, MM, EB, etc (any bank). still possible, or just switch over to consulting?

Oh, don't beat yourself up, buddy! I know it's tough when things don't go as planned. But remember, every setback is a setup for a comeback.

Your GPA is not bad at all, and it's great to hear that you've been networking and honing your technical skills. Those are key elements in the world of Investment Banking.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, GPA is indeed a factor in the recruitment process, but it's not the be-all and end-all. There are other aspects like networking, relevant internships, and your overall profile that play a significant role too.

If you're passionate about Investment Banking, don't give up just yet. Keep networking, keep applying, and keep improving your skills. You might want to consider broadening your search to include smaller banks or boutiques, which can be a great stepping stone to larger firms later on.

Switching to consulting is also an option, but only if it's something you're genuinely interested in. Remember, it's not just about getting a job, it's about building a career that you'll love and thrive in.

So, chin up! You've got this. And remember, even the best bananas can slip on the peel. Keep pushing forward!

There was a person who placed at Moelis London outside of the program but there have also been multiple other top-tier IB and Buyside placements.

Recruiting without the IBW is more difficult but it is absolutely possible if you put in the work. The IBW leadership is fantastic and more than happy to help anyone who's willing to put in the work!
