ROI on my masters for IB or non-relevant WM
Hi all, posting here for some advice and opinions on my situation.
So long story short, I'm hoping to break into investment banking or M&A Consulting... but I'm a part of that group of people who found this "interest" late in the process and I dont have any relevant internships to break in with just my undergraduate degree. I'm hoping to use a masters program to fill in the gaps in my financial knowledge as well as use it as an opportunity to apply for formal internship programs.
My background: Canadian citizen, undergrad from UBC.
I've received an offer for the masters in finance program at ESSEC in France (Any thoughts on the school?) , and im contemplating whether or not its worth going in debt for 50k all in.
Ideally (but not exclusively) I'd like to live and work in Europe or in the UK, probably not france as my french isnt at the level that working there would require but of course i can work on this. I don't really intend on coming back to Canada unless I get a reasonable offer here.
So heres my dilemma; Along with this, I have an entry level wealth management offer on the side at a private firm in a small city in Canada. Now although not relevant to IB, I feel like I could pursue this as work experience while working towards a CFA®
, or even move on in the future years towards an MBA and break in at the associate level within Canada or the States. So.. Masters with the potential to intern in a relevant position but at the cost of student loans, or non-relevant work experience and pursuing the CFA® .
What would you do in my position?
