Ross School Of Business Weekend MBA

I am looking into pursuing an MBA to make a career switch into IB -> private equity. I am considering the weekend MBA at the University of Michigan - Ross School of Business  as I live locally and it's one of the top programs. My Profile:

1- PhD Engineering GPA 3.91 / 4.00 - Honors Scholar at the university of michigan - Dearborn
2- Work Experience: Automotive big 3 OEM - 7 years and Strategy Consulting at a boutique firm - 1.5 years

Questions:
1- I am planning to apply to waive the GMAT (it is an option at Ross). has anyone did the waiver before?
2- Has anyone received a merit based scholarship to the part time MBA program at Ross?

Best,

I attended -- DM if helpful.

1) I believe you can waive though would suggest taking it, especially if merit is your goal.

2) Merit for PT students (at Ross or competitors) is limited as you are not taking on the full opportunity cost. Schools know this and treat these programs as higher margin. As such, merit is limited $20k per year in my experience across PT programs.

Separately, on PE, making the jump, as noted on this forum many times, is almost impossible without IB experience. It's possible that you could find some local LMM fund to take a chance on you, but even those opportunities are few and far between. A more realistic path is to do IB for a few years, which is possible out of the weekend program (I did the internship, didn't accept my offer), but challenging.
