RSM Msc. in Finance and Investment vs Maastricht Msc. Financial Economics
Is there anyone who knows what is the difference between these two universities when it come to job placement in the Netherlands. My goal is to work in Amsterdam. Does the university matter ?
Not really, the key is excelling in either study (i.e. Cum Laude) and extracurriculars.
RSM in Rotterdam is more prestige than UVA or VU for everything business or economy related. Also, every Amsterdam firm recruits at RSM.
For Recruiting in the Netherlands it isn't going to matter if you end up going to vu or rsm (although rsm has a slight edge). The banks do recruiting through events like the international banking cycle that you can access through both the fsr and fsa.
As for Maastricht, I would stay away. My professor told me (finished his Ph.D. At maastricht) that a lot of firms are devaluing their msc's as cum laude turns out to be really easy there (students able to bargain for higher grades on massive scale). Not sure to what extent it is true but I'd avoid them to be on the safe side.
What university have you attended?
VU - and I can vouch for the fact that all BB's, EB's and local large banks recruit there. From what I see at recruiting events RSM is better represented so it might be a bit safer bet if you are undecisive. That said: From my experience it is easier to catch some positive attention when you have less competition at your own uni (less people willing to go into banking here it seems).
