Career Resources
Based on the WSO Dataset, Sameer Merchant is associated with City Investment Training, which has garnered mixed to negative reviews from users on the platform. Here are some key points highlighted by users:
Marketing Over Substance: One user described their experience with one of the free courses offered by City Investment Training as "pretty useless," suggesting it served more as a marketing tool to encourage payment for a so-called 'internship' rather than providing substantial educational value.
Questionable Expertise: Sameer Merchant's expertise has been called into question by users. After reviewing his LinkedIn posts and TikTok videos, one user concluded that he doesn't seem to have a deep understanding of the topics he discusses.
Misleading Promises: A significant criticism is that Sameer Merchant has claimed that taking his course could offer a better chance at landing a "real" investment banking gig than actual internship experience in M&A or the buy-side. This claim has been met with skepticism and concern, especially considering the importance of real-world experience in the finance industry.
Target Audience: The courses seem to attract a large number of students from universities that are not traditionally considered feeders into investment banking, suggesting that the program might be preying on the aspirations of those who realistically have a harder time breaking into the industry.
Professional Presentation: There's also mention of Sameer Merchant's appearance in promotional materials, which one user found unprofessional, further casting doubt on the legitimacy of the training offered.
These points reflect a general sentiment of caution and skepticism towards Sameer Merchant and City Investment Training among some WSO users. It's always recommended to conduct thorough research and seek multiple sources of feedback before committing to any educational program, especially those promising a pathway into competitive fields like investment banking.

Old stuff tells you all you need to know.
Scameer Merchant
You didnt need to make another thread on this
Sorry
Most people who have opinions on him have never purchased any of his courses, they just parrot others
The facts are
He recommends not to join back office to get to the front office
He pimps people on LinkedIn to repost his content
He never worked in Investment banking, he was in ER for a short time
His course is 6-9K
You really have to critically think for yourself and decide if it’s a wise investment
>He never worked in Investment banking
>His course is 6-9K
>You really have to critically think for yourself and decide if it’s a wise investment
You don’t have to think about it that critically. But then again, I never personally fell for his scam, so I guess I’m just a parrot.
Actually sad he is scamming desperate non targets 9k (years university tuition btw) for a course which adds barely anything to your CV and most likely is not as good as BIWS etc courses (I would much rather have Brian teach me than Sameer Merchant)
You act like he’s beating people over the head with a stick and forced them to buy from him
This is a big industry in the US with kids paying 25-30k and in the UK someone with a course is a scammer
The market decided and he clearly makes a few sales a year
Nice work, intern. 0.5 sameercoins have been deposited into your city investment training account.
When you start talking about "market decided", you sound like your personality is based off Hayek books.
Just because you don't force someone to buy doesn't mean you can't scam them. Would you word it the same way if we were talking about Indian scammers coercing people to buy giftcards?
"Oh well ackshually, Telecom's a really big industry. The market decided and the scammers get to make a few million each year."
