Senior in HS - Which of the Schools I've gotten into would be best?
I'm a senior in HS who is kind of interested in finance, but would also like to explore the possibility of career in politics/law in the future. I'm also a TN resident, and my family is comfortable with full-pay. Here are the schools I've gotten into so far:
UTK - Business; UGA - Economics; SMU - Business; Michigan - Philosophy, Politics, and Economics; - Richmond - Economics.
I'm still awaiting decisions from Vandy, Yale, Dartmouth, Georgetown, Columbia, UPenn, and UVA (but not expecting any acceptances, maybe/hopefully Georgetown).
Which of the schools I've listed would be the best for recruitment in IB/ Consulting in the future? I'm assuming UMich, but I didn't apply to Ross. First time posting on here, sorry if I formatted/posted in the wrong group.
Michigan or SMU.
Would UMich LSA still be a better target compared to SMU's Cox? I wonder if all the resources and recruiting go toward Ross students.
I'm not too familiar with Michigan's OCR but I do see some LSA students placing at good banks.
I’d rank them as
1. Michigan
2. SMU
3. Richmond
4. UGA
5. UTK
I’d also consider cost of attendance if you’re planning on taking out loans or if it’s going to burden your parents. Also idk if this is relevant to you but SMU has the hottest women on the list
Michigan would be full cost, so ~80k for everything. I got $25k off tuition for SMU, so that would be ~50k total. I also got invited to apply for their full-aid scholarship, so I'll hear back from that soon (will probably go to SMU if I get the full ride, unless I get into one of my other reaches). Per your last point, I agree. I toured and the amount of blondes was eye-opening.
I don't know if you would know this, but would all the recruiting go toward Ross students at UMich? I could try to transfer, but don't know how competitive it is to do so internally. And what would be a good non-Ross major? I figure my intended Philosophy, Politics, and Economics degree will not be quantitative enough.
bump
Michigan, unless you land one of Yale, Dartmouth, Georgetown, Columbia, or UPenn. The others won’t place into anything.
Disagree - SMU is good.
Maybe for shitfaced football games but you can get that at Michigan too with far superior placement; have seen students from there place into Blackstone and KKR right out of school as well as all of the elite boutiques and bulge brackets. It’s more selective has a better brand and a much stronger alumni network.
